Julia Steiner
Julia Steiner is a contemporary Swiss artist whose artistic practice focuses on site-specific work. She is known for creating installations, sculptures, and interventions that interact significantly with the environment in which they are created. Her artistic approach is characterized by a reactive and organic approach, where she takes into account the spatial, architectural, and geographical characteristics of the location to shape her works. Within Villa Heleneum, she conducted in-depth research on the architecture and space to find the most appropriate setting for her creations, choosing a transitional space between two rooms. In her trompe-l’oeil installation, the walls and ceilings are used to create a vortex effect, reminiscent of a breeze carrying outdoor vegetation into the building. The drawing done in black pigments further accentuates the whiteness of the surface, creating subtle play of shadows and lights, as well as depth effects that immerse us in an immersive experience.
